Eine Verschmelzung von Elementen aus Post-Rock, Jazz-Rock, Art-Rock, New Age und World Music

Der Name DOKAPI (Esperanto du kapoj - zwei Köpfe) steht für das Duo des Gitarristen Titus Köstler-Philipp und des Pianisten Tilman Sommer. Die Musiker komponieren seit Ende der 80er Jahre kontemplative Instrumentalmusik aus Elementen der Genres Jazz-Rock, Post-Rock, New Age und World Music. Charakteristisch sind dabei die Improvisationen von Gitarre und Klavier, Betonung von Rhythmus, sowie in der Balance zwischen akustischen und elektronischen Klängen. |

Wunderbar athmosphärische Downtempo Jazz-Rock Musik mit starken Melodien und gefühlvollen Solos - Gitarre und Piano als Lead-InstrumenteBei den Stücken verschmelzen harmonische Melodien, Improvisationen und vielschichtige Klänge von Gitarren und Keyboards über einem prägnanten rhythmischen Hintergrund zu akustischen Gemälden (Soundscapes), die Assoziationen zu Gemütsstimmungen und Landschaftsbildern wecken wie zum Beispiel Blue Nite, Sentimental Notes, Savannah, Silver Creek. Die Stücke sind meistens in einem Downbeat-Tempo gehalten. Elektrische Gitarre und Klavier bilden als Lead-Instrumente eine eindringliche Symbiose. Die Gitarren-Sounds reichen von akustisch (Trek To Makalu) bis stark verzerrt (Blue Nite, The Streets Of Miami), ergänzt durch einzigartige Klänge, die mit besondere Spieltechniken erzeugt wurden (Silver Creek, Savannah, Yucca, Space Odyssey). Bei den Keyboards herrscht eine ebenso große Vielfalt - von Klavier, E-Piano bis zu atmosphärischen Synthesizer-Klängen reicht das Spektrum. In the age of Internet and MP3 players, even with our very first CD album we dared to try to distribute our music completely ourselves via our own webshop and popular music download portals on the Web like mp3.de and magnatune.com. In order to protect our work legally, we tried to put our own license conditions into suitable words. Luckily while investigating related issues on the Web, we found the very helpful project Creative Commons, which set out to do exactly this for all kinds of art work.
Among the various alternatives we selected the Creative Commons License BY-NC-SA 2.0. Basically, the idea behind this license is to grant everybody free usage of the music and even allow distribution and usage in derivate works as long as it all remains non-commercial. As soon as somebody is making money with our music we understandably want our adequate share.
The license allows to use the music very freely for non-commercial purposes, only restricted by the conditions, that our name must be displayed in an appropriate place, derivate works (e.g. as soundtrack for a video film) are only allowed if these works are published under the same licensing terms as this one, and that the license conditions are made known to the recipients.
